Email: [email protected] KUALA LUMPUR, 13 AUGUST 2015 – “International Youth Day” is meaningless if my role as a Youth Leader is not being fulfilled, therefore this is something small that I can initiate for our people’ says Darshini, one of the Member of Youth Parliament representing Johor. Today, Darshini introduces the first ever Voluntary Blood Donor Database in Malaysia which helps to close the gap of demand and supply of blood, which is currently alarming in the country. ‘Almost every day I receive WhatsApp messages or Facebook posts requesting for blood donors from various locations in Malaysia. Once, my friend was in need of blood donor but unfortunately I was unable to help as I was hundreds of kilometers away from her. That makes me really sad. Looking at current situation, I was wondering what we can do to ease the burden of the requester, to match their request with the blood donors. That is when this idea triggers my mind,’ she says. This website works as a platform to register blood donors on voluntary basis and enables public to put in request if there any need of blood. Public will be able to search for donors nearby to their place by using the search button immediately. The website provides basic details of the donors such as name, contact number, blood group and location. ‘It is a very basic website, we are trying it with free of charge resources that we can get as a start. We do not have fund to create a good web interface and a mobile app at the moment. We wish to take this opportunity to make this project as a stepping stone to serve our people. There are so many free of charge resources that we can use to create beneficial things for the people.’ Darshini adds. Darshini also aims to create a mobile application for this site, which will enable public to have it installed in their smartphone devices so that the information can be obtained anywhere, anytime at any situation. The website has been made public today onwards for people to try the system. This initiative has been launched by The People’s Foundation, which is founded by Darshini in year 2014. She is looking forward for freelance web developer who is willing to work together to make this website and application as good as other apps such MyTeksi and Uber. Volunteers and internship students are welcomed too. Public may try out the system by logging on to f2s.tpfmalaysia.com |
