The 1.2 tonnes of relief materials that was freely forwarded by Malindo Air on December, 2015 was cleared for distribution 30th December 2015. However, the relief materials was held over while awaiting for the rest of the shipments so that it could be distributed together. The second shipment that was shipped out from Singapore is currently being held at the Indian Customs in the need of documents for clearance. We are closely working with the relevant authorities to expedite the clearance process. Our Shipment from Port Klang, which is in a large terms of quantity is yet set to sail as we wanted to understand the Singapore shipment and clearance process before we start shipment from Malaysia. This is to ensure that everything goes through orderly without any procedural delays. Meanwhile, we was asked by Toastmasters Club, Penang to receive and distribute relief materials which was collected by them. Collectively we have decided to assist them to obtain clearance as the shipment has set out sailing. Also, we wish to ensure that there are no delays made to avoid port charges. We have appointed two NGO’s namely; Anushivani Public Charitable Trust and Dysha Foundation Trust to accept shipment and to distribute the materials to the ones whom was affected by the flood. The shipments will be segregated to both NGO’s in parallel. The idea is to ensure that long term needs of both seekers and donors are met, since this is going to be an ongoing process to connect the NGOs between both India and Malaysia and to assist each other in need.

Email: [email protected] KUALA LUMPUR, 13 AUGUST 2015 – “International Youth Day” is meaningless if my role as a Youth Leader is not being fulfilled, therefore this is something small that I can initiate for our people’ says Darshini, one of the Member of Youth Parliament representing Johor. Today, Darshini introduces the first ever Voluntary Blood Donor Database in Malaysia which helps to close the gap of demand and supply of blood, which is currently alarming in the country. ‘Almost every day I receive WhatsApp messages or Facebook posts requesting for blood donors from various locations in Malaysia. Once, my friend was in need of blood donor but unfortunately I was unable to help as I was hundreds of kilometers away from her. That makes me really sad. Looking at current situation, I was wondering what we can do to ease the burden of the requester, to match their request with the blood donors. That is when this idea triggers my mind,’ she says. This website works as a platform to register blood donors on voluntary basis and enables public to put in request if there any need of blood. Public will be able to search for donors nearby to their place by using the search button immediately. The website provides basic details of the donors such as name, contact number, blood group and location. ‘It is a very basic website, we are trying it with free of charge resources that we can get as a start. We do not have fund to create a good web interface and a mobile app at the moment. We wish to take this opportunity to make this project as a stepping stone to serve our people. There are so many free of charge resources that we can use to create beneficial things for the people.’ Darshini adds. Darshini also aims to create a mobile application for this site, which will enable public to have it installed in their smartphone devices so that the information can be obtained anywhere, anytime at any situation. The website has been made public today onwards for people to try the system. This initiative has been launched by The People’s Foundation, which is founded by Darshini in year 2014. She is looking forward for freelance web developer who is willing to work together to make this website and application as good as other apps such MyTeksi and Uber. Volunteers and internship students are welcomed too. Public may try out the system by logging on to f2s.tpfmalaysia.com Dear All,
As everyone is aware of the recently organised the event "#MercyNepal Fund Raising Carnival". I humbly would like to take this opportunity to apologies to the public for the last-minute cancellation of the event. It was an outrage that someone pranked the management of Central Market as a policeman to stop the event from happening. Rest assured, necessary steps and investigations are taken by the local authorities towards the report that I have made. After much discussion with the officials, we have decided to re-organise the entire show to a different venue which will be held in a closed door (hall or stadium). It was very devastating to know that such a meaningful event can be called of by someone irresponsible and it affected the image of the foundation and all the artists who agreed to perform for complimentary. In return of the favour, I would like to extend an invitation again to all of you here to join us on this special fund raising event and to make it a meaningful one. I sincerely hope that everyone will accept our sincere apologies for the incident happened and my delay in sending you an apology note. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you want to suggest anything towards the event, or shall you need more information about the program itself. Have a blessed day ahead! Sincerely, Darshini Sitharam, Founder. The People's Foundation. Nepal earthquake: Aid-dependent country says it needs $8.5 billion for post-quake rebuilding6/17/2015 Earthquake-battered Nepal will ask international donors to support a reconstruction plan expected to cost at least $8.5 billion over five years, the government says. Two quakes on April 25 and May 12 killed 8,787 people and destroyed more than 500,000 homes, affecting 2.8 million of the Himalayan nation's 28 million people. Losses to the economy from Nepal's worst disaster on record stand at $7 billion, including from tourism, the government said in a Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) report. Suman Prasad Sharma, a senior finance ministry official, said 36 countries and 24 donor agencies had been invited to a conference on June 25 to pledge support for reconstruction. "We have expectations of a very handsome and good support from our donors during the conference," Mr Sharma said at a function in Kathmandu. Currently, Nepal gets two-thirds of the cost of its economic development in international aid. Government officials said some donors who cannot pledge more aid could still help Nepal by writing off debt the country owes or delaying repayment schedules. Nepal does not have commercial borrowings from international lending agencies. Concessional loans mainly from the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank account for 18 per cent of Nepal's gross domestic product, according to the officials. The government spends $300 million in debt repayment every year. Local donors say post-disaster reconstruction must be more accountable in a country that ranked 126 of 176 nations surveyed in Transparency International's corruption perception index in 2014, compared with 116 a year earlier. Nepal's annual economic growth is expected to slow to 3 per cent, the lowest in eight years, from 4.6 per cent estimated earlier, according to its statistics bureau, due to the impact of the earthquakes on tourism and infrastructure. One in every four Nepalis lives on a daily income of less than $1.25. The quakes have also set back Nepal's efforts to fight poverty by increasing the number of poor by 700,000 to 7.78 million, according to Govind Raj Pokharel, vice chairman of the National Planning Commission.
