Media Contacts: Email: [email protected] January 22, 2016 – Following the recent flood in Chennai, we wish to notify that we will be partly distributing a total of 1.2 tonnes of relief materials to 140 tribal families in Chengalpattu and 70 families in a remote village today. The 1.2 tonnes of relief materials that was freely forwarded by Malindo Air on December, 2015 was cleared for distribution 30th December 2015. However, the relief materials was held over while awaiting for the rest of the shipments so that it could be distributed together. The second shipment that was shipped out from Singapore is currently being held at the Indian Customs in the need of documents for clearance. We are closely working with the relevant authorities to expedite the clearance process. Our Shipment from Port Klang, which is in a large terms of quantity is yet set to sail as we wanted to understand the Singapore shipment and clearance process before we start shipment from Malaysia. This is to ensure that everything goes through orderly without any procedural delays. Meanwhile, we was asked by Toastmasters Club, Penang to receive and distribute relief materials which was collected by them. Collectively we have decided to assist them to obtain clearance as the shipment has set out sailing. Also, we wish to ensure that there are no delays made to avoid port charges. We have appointed two NGO’s namely; Anushivani Public Charitable Trust and Dysha Foundation Trust to accept shipment and to distribute the materials to the ones whom was affected by the flood. The shipments will be segregated to both NGO’s in parallel. The idea is to ensure that long term needs of both seekers and donors are met, since this is going to be an ongoing process to connect the NGOs between both India and Malaysia and to assist each other in need.
